Spirit of Fuerteventura
Second Edition 2009 Print E-mail

We would like to welcome our visitors to Fuerteventura and wish them a pleasant and for sure a warm stay on the island. You all deserve it after such a horrible winter that kept you shivering well into April. But now you are here and ready to enjoy your well-deserved chill-out-time and/or leisure plans. The island has plenty to offer. I also wish to welcome our regular readers to our latest issue – on the island through the magazine and abroad through our web site. The changes and additions we made last time were well received and we implemented Mit Tui und 123 Fly und Thomas Cooksome more suggestions from our readers. Thank you for your interest and commitment; we thrive on that.
Over the last two years, the Spirit of Fuerteventura magazine has grown from a shy initiative to a reference in the local magazine business. It was hard work – and still is – but it couldn't be done without you all, readers and business partners. This is what it resulted to: it is your magazine; about the island, about you, about life. Thank you.
Especially in these challenging times, co-operation is what makes a difference. When things go worse than expected, people tend to become defensive and self-centred.
But there are other ways of coping with this. When you understand that we all are linked to each other, then co-operation is a logical and natural outcome. So therefore I refuse to call the present time “crisis time”. Yes, indeed, the actual situation is not what we expected or hoped for, but it is normal after all - when you think everything over, it even should have been expected - and it calls us to re-think and re-set certain values of life. We now can learn that more, more, more can become less, less, less. And that trees do not grow unlimited into the sky. Maybe this island is just what many of us need… because there are almost no trees.
We hope you enjoy our magazine and I wish you a wonderful time.

Michel
